What is Healthy Living?

1. What is Health?

HEALTHnoun helth. [from heal.] That state of an animal or living body, in which the parts are sound, well organized and disposed, and in which they all perform freely their natural functions. In this state the animal feels no pain. This word is applied also to plants. *1

So, everything falls according to a plan, according to what works right and what benefits the individual and those around that individual. Life is not a chaotic sense of nothingness. That is hopelessness.

2. What is Healthy Living?

I like the freedom of feeling healthy, making my own choices and living the way that is right for me to live. I have always known that there has to be a plan for life, for my life. It is not healthy to live only selfishly – and who can resist that because we are many times only aware of ourselves, especially when we are hurting.

My Dad was an encourager to me. But he would many times beat around the topic and not come straight out and say the truth of an issue. For example, he would say, “People are always so selfish”, when he actually was telling me that I was acting selfishly. For a long time, I never got the exact point, but I never forgot him saying it. (He said it to me a lot – I would think that I would have caught on!)

Healthy living is normal. But everyone’s normal is individual. It is the perfect world for each person. But that is influenced by our choices, other’s choices for us and just life in general. That sounds so depressing and fatalistic. But it is not. We each have the ability to change our choices, to make choices that can cause positive changes.

Being Healthy is Having the Freedom to Live your Life Without Hinderances

I love that idea. Having disease come into a life does not need to change that healthy state. Your healthy state is affected much by how you think. No one can take your beliefs away, your thoughts away, your will away. You can choose to give it away, but you have a right given to you when you were created and those rights are, as our Declaration of Independence agrees:

3. How Do I Know I Am Healthy?

On a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level you will have the energy to do what you need to do. In a perfect world that would mean everything would run without a glitch, like clockwork.

But even though we do not live in a perfect world, we can fine tune our lives to have energy and think clearly. We can reverse processes of most illnesses. We can become well when we get sick. I hope this makes sense, I am not being too philosophical here, I am being practical and realistic. We have all seen people heal; we see that some people can avoid most illness. But real health is being able to be who you really are with no one stopping you or interfering. You are in control of that.
