Common sense goes a long way here. Too much of anything is not a good practice. So, check out the side effects listed below and make sure you are having good results from eating the fruit or taking the supplements.

My concern about the need for caution reinforces the facts I learned many years ago. Supplements can be contaminated. This is the main reason why I went to whole foods. I was unsure about what was in the supplements. I take supplements now, but I do research the companies and pick my favorite brands.

    • – Know that there are many excellent products available, and most health-food stores have already done the research for you.
    • – Research the company that is manufacturing the supplements you take to be sure it is truly a healthy product.
    • – Check the labels, talk to the manufacturer and get any questions answered.
    • – Make sure you can trust the product you take.
    • – If you need gluten free products, check to make sure they are truly gluten free.
    • – If you want organic products, make sure they are truly organic ingredients.
    • – You need to make sure you are getting pure nutrients from the supplements if you choose to take them.
    • – Read the ingredients as well as what nutrients are in the supplement you want to buy.
  • 4. Be aware of a few ways toxic ingredients get into supplements undetected:
    • A non-GMO corn called Maltodextrin,
    • Processing methods that leave a metal content in the supplement
    • Metal – Aluminum 
    • Metal – Lead or arsenic
    • Inorganic minerals

    • Aspartame
    • MSG (causes digestive problems)
    • Cooking with equipment that leaves Acrylamides in the supplement
    • Hidden toxins like Yeast extract (MSG)

5. Be aware of the types of reactions you can have:

If you are taking a vitamin supplement at your doctor’s advice and have a serious allergic reaction to this product, you may experience one or more of the following serious symptoms.

  • Some reactions include:
    • Face or throat swelling or anaphylactic reaction,
    • breathing problems,
    • dizziness,
    • rash or itching.

Report allergic symptoms at once and stop taking the supplement.

  • Milder adverse symptoms may occur if vitamin C is taken in excess to what your body system is able to tolerate at that time, or if you have an intolerance to a substance.
  • These milder symptoms include:
    • – Nausea and/or vomiting,
    • – Abdominal pains or cramps,

When Vitamin C is used for therapy, diarrhea may occur. It is usually a cleansing reaction and not an intolerance. But again, check with your doctor. The dose will need to be adjusted according to your reaction to it. Listen to your body, pay attention to your practitioners’ guidance. It has a massive amount of information on therapeutic uses of Vitamin C. Something to think about!

It is not your fault! When your body system is working well and healthy you will not react heavily to intolerances, allergies or toxins. The biggest argument I have for being able to tolerate vital healthy nutrients is in taking care of your body early on in your life. It is not difficult to detect reactions to anything you ingest or come into contact within your life. Watch for reactions or intolerances so you can easily absorb and protect the vital nutrients that your body needs for healthy living.

One of my favorite ways of checking out if I am having a reaction to a food is to monitor my heartrate and how I feel after I eat. It is not the most reliable way to determine if you have an adverse reaction to what you are eating, but it may give an indication.

Have you ever tried a therapeutic dose of Vitamin C? A therapeutic dose with Rosehips alone will be inconsistent. You will not be able to repeat the same effects because Rosehips in the wild are not standardized. They do not have the same dosage.
