Natural First Aid – Why Use It?

Introduction

I have a confession to make. Being so good at coming up with remedies at the moment I need them, I came across my dream site online on natural healing. My point is that there are so many resources now, I am amazed at how much self-help in the health field there is.

I started with all the natural healing, herb books I could find. (This was before the internet.) Instead of taking my children to the doctor, I would treat them myself. My kids still remember the time that we watched the healing process when my son cut the end of his finger off and it healed back quickly. Herbs are amazing.

I used the comfrey from my garden to help heal a horrific burn on my foot. When I was 2, I had to go to the hospital for a hot water burn and still have the scars. I had been trying to practice my nursing skills on my younger sister and stepped in a pan of hot water that was being used as a humidifier.

Now I had burned by other foot by carrying a heavy pot of hot water and accidently dumped it on my foot. It took 2 months to heal, and then I had another 2 months to learn to walk again. What an experience! It was worse on my children, and I regret that, because they had to do all the work. But the good of it is that there is absolutely NO SCARS!

I used poultices on my foot. I would buy my herbs in bulk and make whatever I needed from them. I would welcome the new health problems just so I could try out herbs for healing. I actually had one health practitioner tell me that he wanted to learn from me. I was never set up for teaching, so that never occurred, but it was encouraging to hear.

I took my children to the doctor for broken things, but on the whole, I had the time and resources to heal from my garden or from my bulk supplies.

From my garden I had Comfrey, Chamomile, Wild Lettuce, other wild herbs and berries. In my bulk supplies I had teas and dried herbs. In my canned supplies, I had all my canned fruit and vegetables. It was just normal living for me and my family. I enjoyed it and used of my stores freely. I have never stored up for a future crisis, although I felt prepared enough.

At this time, I have learned to store up on essential herbs. When I find one that works for me, I buy 2 so that I will have one on hand. I have used it for digestion disorders, for healing cuts and wounds and bruises. It works well on animals to use home remedies. I have on hand seasonings for their healing nature.

Learning about different therapies helps too – knowing techniques to relieve pain, to improve health can be very beneficial. Actually, my favorite is foot massages.
